PDF: Pakistan Aik Ishq Aik Junoon
presents the next link in the chain
“Out of Chaos, Order?”
Monday Nov 2nd, 6 pm sharp, Bronfman 045
As the situation in Pakistan worsens the confusions are increasingly subsiding. However this clarity, depending on perception, is dividing the nation in two camps. One group believes that the time has never been more right to break the chains of bondage in which we have been living since our conception. The interest difference and the trust deficit between us and the ‘allies’ has never been as starkly evident as now. Therefore, the patriots should seize control of the nation and stand up to the hypocrisy of our ‘friends’.
The other camp—the more ‘rationale’ or the more ‘oblivious’ group—is shocked by the paranoia of the masses. The ‘intellectuals’ can see clearly that the time is right to make substantial changes in the structure of the country and hence move democracy forward. According to them, the radical beliefs of the leftists will only trigger a greater upheaval which shall undoubtedly lead us to war and conflict.
In the past few weeks huge incidents have occurred which when linked to the grand political scenario are indicators of bigger events to follow. The Waziristan Operation has started and this ‘mother of all wars’ already has taken a toll on the Pakistani population in terms of a 100,000 displaced and multiple terrorist attacks. There is a flood of emotions regarding the K-L Bill and its clauses encroaching upon the sovereignty of Pakistan. With the K-L Bill pointing out Quetta as a Taliban safe-haven, the Baluchistan Issue has been brought in to the spotlight again; the Interior Minister for the first time has bluntly pointed out the neighbour’s involvement in the province. Furthermore, the uproar against the open activities of private armies such as BlackWater and DynCorp, which have created a state within the state, is becoming the talk of the day.
In the coming PDF we shall go over four explosive topics:
1. K-L Bill
2. The Waziristan Operation
3. Baluchistan Issue
4. Private Armies
Our discussion would aim to analyze the four issues in-depth and then figure out whether these are arbitrary occurrences or are they pieces of the same puzzle? Is the government and army working together to tackle this chaos or are the differences between these institutions becoming bigger?
The chaos in our homes is increasing; therefore, order is bound to follow. However, the question is would this order mean deeper enslavement or independence all over again?

The Pakistan Discussion Forum will be having its first session of the year on Thursday, October 1st.
Time: 8pm SHARP
Location: Clubs Lounge (4th floor), SSMU building
This years brilliant PDF team of Hamza Zahid and Sana Malalai Isa have put together the opening session of 'Pakistan Aik Ishq, Aik Junoon', to focus on the awing poet and contributor to the creation of Pakistan, Allama Iqbal. In order to fully understand the creation of our country and where it is headed, it seems only apt to start with the man who saw a vision of this separate homeland for the Muslims of British India.
Join us as we compare the intentions of one of our greatest forgotten heroes to what has been made of them today.
